Frequently Asked Question

  • A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medications, and provide psychotherapy or other treatments.
  • A therapist focuses on talk therapy and behavioral interventions but cannot prescribe medications.
  • At Be Well Psychiatry, we offer a blend of psychiatric care and brief psychotherapy for comprehensive treatment.

For patients 5-18 years old the initial psychiatric evaluation occurs over two appointments:

  • First Appointment: A 30-minute session with the parent/guardian only to gather background information and discuss concerns.
  • Second Appointment: A 60-minute session with the parent/guardian and the patient to complete the evaluation and discuss recommendations.

This thorough process helps us develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

For patients 18-65 years old and parents/guardians of patients the initial psychiatric evaluation will be conducted in a single session.

  • A 60-minute session involving the patient focused on assessing, evaluating, and discussing a treatment plan.

We operate on a cash-pay model to ensure personalized, high-quality care without the limitations imposed by insurance companies. However, we can provide you with a “superbill,” a detailed receipt with treatment codes, which you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits.

We are a cash-pay practice, meaning payment is made directly to us rather than through insurance.

  • No, Be Well Psychiatry does not prescribe medical marijuana licenses. This decision is based on concerns about the potential negative cognitive effects on the developing brain and the lack of FDA-approved, evidence-based indications for its use in the treatment of psychiatric conditions.
  • Our practice is committed to utilizing evidence-based treatments that prioritize the safety and well-being of our patients. If you have questions about alternative treatment options, we encourage you to discuss them during your appointment.
